WAYNE COUNTY

Rob Milby

Serving as Sheriff Since 2022

Sheriff Rob Milby began his law enforcement career with Wayne County in 1995 as a part time Deputy.  He signed on full-time in 1997 and served as a Field Training Officer, Road Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, Road Patrol Lieutenant, Detective Lieutenant, and Chief Deputy.  He also served as a liaison for the Rochester area JTTF, Supervisor of the Wayne County Drug Task Force, and as a member of the Emergency Response Team.  In November of 2021, Sheriff Milby was elected Sheriff and took office on January 1, 2022. Sheriff Milby is a founding member of the administrative committee for the Child Advocacy Center of Wayne County, is the 2nd Vice President of the NYS Sheriffs’ Association, a member of the National Sheriff’s Association where he serves on the School Safety and Security Committee and the Border Security Committee.  He is also the Chairman of the newly formed New York State Border Security Committee.  Sheriff Milby maintains an effort in seeing to it that the citizens of Wayne County become familiar with who is guarding their county while they sleep at night.  He strives to do that through traditional and social media outlets and constant agency interaction with the community.  A strong advocate for School Resource Officers in every school, Sheriff Milby believes that fostering positive relationships within our communities can begin with our schools by being present and mentoring our youth.   He strongly supports continuous training, education, and synchronizing with technological advances in order to keep up with the consistent change in the way that criminals conduct business.  The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office recently acquired its 5th Division Accreditation in the 911 Center, rendering Wayne County one of the few agencies that are fully accredited.
