WARREN COUNTY
Jim LaFarr
Serving as Sheriff Since 2020
I began my career with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office as a part-time seasonal Patrol Officer in May 1991 and was later hired full-time in August 1993. I started working my way through the ranks in 2001 with promotions to Investigator, Investigative Sergeant, Investigative Lieutenant and Major. In November of 2019 I was elected to serve as the Sheriff of Warren County.
During my time in law enforcement I have worked as a uniform police officer, a plain clothes Investigator and served in many supervisory and Administrative capacities. As Sheriff, I am responsible for the oversight of all Sheriff’s Office police operations, our Correctional Facility, Emergency 911 Communications Center and the County Civil law enforcement services.
I also serve as an Assessor/Auditor with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services Law Enforcement Accreditation Program. This allows me to travel to police departments across New York State, inspect/audit their operations, and offer guidance for professional improvement.
