Retired Rockland Sheriff James Kralik Dies at 74

Retired Rockland County Sheriff James Kralik, the county’s iconic lawman and Civil War expert who spent almost 50 years with the department, died Monday after battling cancer. He was 74.

Kralik, the county sheriff for two decades who retired in 2011, brought innovation to county law enforcement and became a moving force behind the state anti-terrorism zones and national policy in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.  Read more here.
