Orleans County Sheriff Randy Bower and Jefferson County Sheriff Colleen O’Neill received the MAGNUS award, given by the International Academy of Public Safety’s National Command & Staff College (NC&SC). The Academy recognized 70 sheriffs with the prestigious MAGNUS award at the National Sheriffs’ Association annual conference held in New Orleans. College President Anthony H. Normore, Ph.D., said: “These outstanding sheriffs exemplify leadership, embrace innovation and are committed to building and maintaining trusting community relationships. They are the best of law enforcement for America.”
The NC&SC was established in collaboration with the National Sheriffs’ Association and the National Tactical Officers Association. Founded in 2010, the National Command & Staff College develops MAGNUS leaders and is recognized as a Center of Educational Excellence in Law Enforcement Leadership Education by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training.
